Aberdeenshire-based housebuilder and construction group Bancon has appointment Sarah Donn as its new finance director.

The independent group recently reported strong results and ambitious plans for growth which include doubling the size of its homes division in the next 12 months.

Twenty-eight-year-old Miss Donn is a qualified chartered accountant and joins Bancon from rivals Stewart Milne Group where she was divisional accountant.

Originally from Fraserburgh, she graduated from the University of Aberdeen and joined KPMG as a graduate audit assistant in 2009, becoming an audit assistant manager in 2012 when she gained chartered status.

She moved to Stewart Milne Group as group financial accountant in 2013, becoming divisional accountant for Stewart Milne Homes North Scotland in 2014.

Commenting on her appointment, Miss Donn said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for me at this stage in my career. It is also a great time to be joining a well-established, local business which has an exciting vision and plan in place to realise it. I am looking forward to being an integral part of the team which achieves this five year growth plan.”

John Irvine, chief executive of Bancon Group, said: “Strengthening the senior management team is part of our plan to transform and dramatically grow the Bancon business. These newly created positions, complete the board of the homes business as part of our aspiration to capture a larger share of the North-east housing market.

“Sarah and Jamie are excellent additions to the team. Sarah’s appointment probably makes her one of the youngest finance directors in the country but her sound technical skills and highly relevant sector experience which, when combined with her dynamic approach and desire to succeed, mean she is ideal for this new role.”

The firm also announced the appointment of Jamie Tosh as construction director and Mark Toland as technical director of the group’s homes business.

With a strong heritage in the North-east, Bancon Group’s current projects include high profile homes sites Aspire and Maidencraig in Aberdeen as well as developments in Aboyne, Banchory, Drumoak and Tarves.
