New computer based exam practice platform set to enhance ACCA student learning experience

Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) students are set for a brand new exam practice platform for computer based exams (CBE).

The CBE Practice Solution is set to launch to learning partners this month, allowing time for familiarisation prior to the first Strategic Professional CBE sessions in March 2020.

Platinum and gold approved learning partners (ALPs) and silver learning partners in the UK, Ireland and Czech Republic are the first wave being offered advance access to the practice platform and its exclusive benefits.

Access will be rolled out to further markets in the coming months.

Students will themselves have access to the practice solution after the Exam Week in September 2019.

ACCA has also revealed a further development as part of the CBE Practice Solution, which will see Applied Skills CBE specimen and past exams incorporated into the platform from December 2019.

As a result of the new platform, learning partners will be able to:
• Personalise the practice solution with their company logo and colours
• Create their own questions and practice tests just for their students
• Offer marking and feedback services to their students
• Give guidance for all students to self-mark their tests
• Preload ACCA questions and practice tests for all students

Reza Ali, director of professional education at ACCA, underlined the importance of the platform, adding that it will provide vital aid to students embarking on their exam practice.

He said: “Exam standard question practice is vital to prepare students for live exams. The CBE Practice Solution provides an environment that emulates live exams, building familiarisation with the exam format, functionality and exam standard practice content.

James Patrick, head of professional education, at ACCA, says the launch of the Practice Solution strongly supports the wider use of computer based exams in the qualification.

He said: “ACCA’s continuous move towards CBE is reflective of the variety of ways in which an accountant is presented information in the workplace, with the exams allowing students to showcase their ability to analyse and interpret data, as well as to evaluate what is presented to them using digital tools.

“The ACCA Qualification ensures that our students are developed and assessed in technology from the very beginning of their journey all the way to membership and beyond.

“The addition of our computer based exam practice solution will prove to be a valuable resource for learning partners and their students’ on-going success.”
