The company has hired an extensive number of talented young people with specialisms in audit, tax, consulting, and new digital tech-focused roles.

The latest annual intake is up from 2018 when 70 graduate and apprenticeship places were provided in KPMG’s bases in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen. Across Britain, the business’ intake has increased from 1,200 in 2018, to 1,380 in 2019.

The latest group of recruits follows a recent drive by the firm to reach out to a wider group of new talent, driving up social mobility, and recognising skills in young people who choose to start their careers straight after school, rather than through traditional college or university paths. The business’s commitment to creating positive change was recognised in 2018 when it was ranked as one of the UK’s top employers in the Social Mobility Index.

Catherine Burnet, senior partner at KPMG in Scotland, said: “Our increased investment in apprentices and graduate trainees will help to ensure that KPMG is equipped with the next generation of business leaders and experts, to super-serve our clients. With competition continuously growing to attract the right talent, we’re proud of the fact that we’re not only bringing more new recruits to our offices throughout Scotland, but that we’re confident we’re getting the highest calibre in the sector.

“By broadening our criteria to include a stronger mix of school leavers and graduates, we’ve changed the dynamic of the talent entering KPMG, driving up social mobility, and building a more robust, industry-focused business.”
