Granite City accountancy practice Infinity Partnership has made a key appointment as the business targets further growth.

Christine McGuigan has been appointed senior tax manager with the ambitious Aberdeen business, having previously held the role of tax manager at Hall Morrice for six years and more recently the position of UK tax manager at Subsea 7.

Ms McGuigan, along with tax director, John Atkinson, will look to drive growth at the firm’s Infinity Tax division.

Simon Cowie, managing partner at Infinity Partnership, said: “Christine’s industry credentials, specialist skills and proven ability to deal with complex tax issues will be of immense benefit to our clients.

“Her appointment adds new depth to our tax capabilities. It’s great to have her join the team at an exciting time for our business.”

Ms McGuigan said: “I’m delighted to have the opportunity to help Infinity build on its reputation for first-class service and look forward to playing a key part in achieving further growth for the firm.”

A fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, Christine has expertise across a broad range of areas of taxation including corporate reconstructions, research and development claims, foreign tax relief, employment taxes, tax efficient remuneration and exit strategies, employee share option schemes and succession planning for owner-managed businesses as well as advising clients on personal tax planning and tax residence issues.

A former pupil at Aberdeen’s Bankhead Academy, Christine graduated from the University of Aberdeen with an honours degree in accountancy.

In May (2015), Infinity bolstered its tax capabilities in a merger with Aberdeen practice Accord Tax and Accountancy. The division is now called Infinity Tax.

Infinity has completed more than 50 deals in the merger and acquisition sector with a combined value of more than £200m since being established in 2011.

The business has clients from Shetland to Southampton and has completed projects in the United States, Australia and the Middle East.
