JK Rowling profits doubled in 2019

The profits mark a stark contract to her company’s fall in revenue to £2.8m in 2018.

In the company’s strategic report, the board’s director said that revenue in the year had continued to deliver above expectations due to strong sales performance of the Harry Potter eBooks and digital audiobooks.

The report also attributed the company’s continued investment in franchise planning in partnership with Warner Bros and activities supporting the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone in the US.

The report also attributed increased profits to the launch of the film Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.

It is estimated that JK Rowling is worth £750m and the newly filed accounts from Pottermore Ltd mean that she earned £86,317 a day in 2019.
