The Oor Wullie Big Bucket Trail, which launched earlier this week, is Scotland’s first national public art trail and sculptures will be featured on the streets of cities across the country.

Johnston Carmichael will be supporting local artist Jennifer Clarke, who created “Oorius Wullius in the Night Sky”, a connected constellation-themed sculpture, which will be based at Dundee’s International Submarine Memorial.

The sculpture’s design aims to mirror Johnston Carmichael’s ethos, highlighting the firm’s bright stars and the connections it has made with businesses and communities since it was established over 80 years ago in February 1936.

Jenn Stewart, restructuring director and office head at Johnston Carmichael Dundee, said: Born on the 8th March 1936, Oor Wullie is only eight days younger than Johnston Carmichael and as such a well-known character in Scotland, we are thrilled to be getting behind the Big Bucket Trail. We are committed to supporting the community in Dundee, from working with local charities, to supporting resident artists.

Jennifer’s sculpture is really fantastic. The starry design truly encapsulates who we are as a firm, highlighting the great team we have at Johnston Carmichael and the range of business connections we’ve made over the years.

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone enjoy the trail, so remember to use the official hashtag #OWBBT, and tag Johnston Carmichael in all your social media posts when you take a selfie with our Oor Wullie! He’s at Location 22, on Camperdown Street.”

The trail aims to raise awareness and vital funds for children’s hospital charities across the country and will run until August this year.

The statue has been placed on the Dundee Kiltwalk route, taking place on 18 August, of which Johnston Carmichael is a gold sponsor.

This partnership comes weeks after Johnston Carmichael announced the launch of a new office in Dundee, bringing the firm’s total number of offices throughout Scotland to 12.
