The agency, which was formed in August 2016, also achieved over 25% growth in the business year-on-year, following new client wins as well as growth in existing clients.

Hydrogen works with brands such as SSE, Highland Park, Macdonald Hotels and Hachette, covering a whole range of social media services including strategy, content creation, design and analysis to help drive brand awareness and sales for clients.

Mike Scott, managing director and co-founder of Hydrogen, said: “We’d set ourselves ambitious goals for our fourth year of business, and despite having to revise things down slightly due to COVID-19, I’m thrilled that we managed to achieve that level of growth. In fact, as we have been working from home over the past quarter, some of our team has been busier than ever: and we have recruited two new members of staff since March.

“Over the past year we’ve seen a raft of new clients and have continued to grow our team, becoming the largest specialist social media agency in Scotland. In the last 12 months alone, we have expanded our team by a third to match demand, and plan to further strengthen our senior team before the end of 2020.”

Mike Scott co-founded Hydrogen in 2016 with Daniel Rae, technology director, after seeing an appetite for specialist social media which was not met by larger integrated agencies.

Moving into its fifth year of operations, Hydrogen plans to expand further, including new business avenues to meet client needs.
