Hampden & Co chairman honoured with OBE

Ray Entwistle OBE

Edinburgh-based private bank Hampden & Co has announced that chairman Ray Entwistle has been appointed OBE in the New Year’s Honours, for his services to charity and the arts.

Mr Entwistle has supported a broad range of causes, many to do with the arts, such as in his role of chairman of The Fruitmarket Gallery for 10 years, restructuring the board and saving it from closure.

He has also acted as governor of the Edinburgh College of Art, latterly as finance convenor.

He has also served on the fundraising committee for the new West Gate at the Royal Botanic Gardens and as a trustee of Victim Support, raising substantial sums for victims of crime.

He also assisted with fundraising for the new Bill Scott Edinburgh Sculpture Workshops and has hosted fundraising events at Holyrood Palace with both the Princess Royal (for the Princess Royal Trust for Carers) and the Duke of Rothesay (when Ray was Chairman of the Scottish Civic Trust).

Mr Entwistle, who is currently a Trustee of the Royal High School Preservation Trust, said: “I am delighted to have received this honour. It has been a privilege to work with many inspiring people in support of a range of excellent causes.”
