Grant Thornton has announced the appointment of a new marketing manager for its Scottish practice as part of its long-term growth strategy.

The business and financial advisor has hired Sarah Lam to be part of a specialist team based in Edinburgh, but providing support across all three of the firm’s Scottish sites, including Glasgow and Aberdeen.

Ms Lam has more than a decade of experience in professional services, most recently leading the marketing function for Johnston Carmichael Wealth.

Her role will include driving forward the delivery of Grant Thornton’s long-term growth strategy in Scotland and ongoing support with the firm’s ‘Vibrant Economy’ initiative, which is looking to build greater collaboration between people, communities, companies and political leaders to unlock the potential for more sustainable growth in the economy.

Commenting on her appointment, Brian Cameron, Grant Thornton’s head of business development & marketing in Scotland, said: “Sarah has gained an outstanding reputation for her client-focused approach, her ability to listen and her commitment to build positive relationships. Her agile, can-do approach is the perfect fit for Grant Thornton UK as we look to continue with our successful Scottish growth strategy.

“We’re working hard to raise the profile of our Vibrant Economy initiative which is driven by a desire to build a more purposeful, sustainable economy that works for everyone. In increasingly uncertain times, it’s an agenda that’s more important than ever before, and Sarah will play a leading role in bringing that to life.”

Ms Lam added: “While Grant Thornton UK has been working with clients across Scotland for decades, it feels like it’s really gaining ground right now and standing out as the go-to firm for dynamic, entrepreneurial businesses. Its recent expansion into Aberdeen and its Vibrant Economy work are helping to shift attitudes towards professional services and create real value, contributing to the future success of the economy. I’m looking forward to joining Grant Thornton UK and playing a key role in driving forward their strategic plan of collaboration and growth.”
