Charles Stanley announces new Aberdeen office

Wealth manager Charles Stanley has said its decision to open a new office in Aberdeen signals its “serious intentions” to expand north of the border.

The firm said the team at its new office on the Granite City’s Carden Place will work with colleagues at its Edinburgh operation.

The new location means Charles Stanley now boasts a network comprising 25 branches.

The firm said its latest office has the capacity for the team to grow and a recruitment drive is currently underway for financial planners and investment managers.

In April, the appointment was announced of John Redpath (pictured right) as executive director of financial planning, as well as chartered financial planners Julie Combie and Barry McGowan.

The Aberdeen team will be headed up by Scott Morrison as director of financial planning, who joined Charles Stanley from Tilney in September.

He will report to John Redpath, executive director of financial planning in Edinburgh.

Mr Morrison, who works with partners of law and accountancy practices and professionals in the oil and gas sector, is working alongside Linda Edward, who also joined from Tilney as a paraplanner this summer.

Andrew Meigh, managing director of financial planning at Charles Stanley, said: “The launch of this office sends a strong signal about our serious intentions to grow our business.”
