Campbell Dallas granted more time to deal with Muirfield creditors

Campbell Dallas said it has been granted more time “to realise the company’s assets and agree the creditors’ claims”.

More than 280 jobs were lost when Muirfield went into administration a year ago. The company faced claims from unsecured creditors of more than £10 million.

In May last year, Campbell Dallas accused the firm’s owner John Stodart of not giving a full picture of its financial position.

While a confidential report to the Insolvency Service in October revealed that its directors could face court action over the company’s collapse.

Due to end last Friday, the administration has now been extended to March 11 next year.

A spokesman for Campbell Dallas told SFN’s sister publication, Scottish Construction Now: “It is normal for an administration of this size to be extended beyond one year to realise the company’s assets and agree the creditors’ claims.

“In this case, there are a significant number of debtor and retention balances still outstanding in relation to work done by the company on contracts prior to our appointment. Contracts which were ongoing at the date of administration will require to be completed by third parties, and only once this is done and all costs are finalised can the balances due to Muirfield be established. As such it will be some time yet before all balances outstanding can be quantified and recovered for the benefit of the creditors.”
