As the nation gears-up to cheer Andy Murray on to Wimbledon glory, it has emerged that ticket prices for Sunday’s men’s final have already reached astronomical heights.

According to reports, two Centre Court seats for the climax of grand slam were being sold online over the weekend for just shot of an astonishing £59,000.

The Centre Court debenture seats were posted on the ticket exchange website Stubhub, with the seller looking for - £58,988.20 – £24,494.10 per ticket, despite today being only the start of the second week of the fortnight-long tournament.

As debenture season tickets, the briefs would have already cost more per day than standard tickets. But Wimbledon spokesman Johnny Perkins said the higher price meant the tickets can be resold and are “freely tradeable.”

The cheapest tickets for Sunday’s men’s final on Stubhub were being sold yesterday for £4,366 each, while the cheapest on rival website Viagogo were going for £3,409.09 each.

But fans can expect the prices to continue to rise the longer Murray stays in contention to win his third major title.

Murray has started the tournament strongly and if he can reach the showpiece final he is on course to meet World No 1 Novak Djokovic.

That match-up would mean a repeat of the 2013 final when Murray finally triumphed at SW19, becoming the first British male winner for 77 years.
