And finally… something fishy

Subway is facing a claim that its tuna sandwich does not contain tuna.

And finally... something fishy

Two California customers have filed a lawsuit after they tested the tuna in multiple sandwiches and, they claim, they found no tuna, The Times reports.

Mr Mark Lanier is the lawyer acting for Karen Dhanowa and Nilima Amin in what is intended to become a class-action suit on behalf of thousands of people in California who have bought the sandwich in the past three years.

He said: “We tested the tuna in multiple sandwiches and found no tuna”.

Subway’s menu says the tuna sandwich contains “flaked light tuna in brine, mixed with lite mayo”, but the plaintiffs say it “lack(s) any trace of tuna as a component, let alone the main or predominant ingredient”.

Subway said the claims were without merit, adding that UK branches use “100% pole-and-line-caught skipjack tuna”.
