Giuseppe Refrigeri, an Italian mafia boss who was allegedly claiming unemployment benefit in Spain has been arrested on the Costa del Sol.

Mr Refrigeri, who is believed to be a leader of the Banda della Marranella, which controls the drugs traffic in Rome, was seen at an unemployment office in Estepona.

Police have said that he had Spanish identity papers, The Times reports.

Mr Refrigeri was released last year after spending two years in Spanish jail. Officials lost track of him, however, he now faces extradition to Italy, where he is wanted for allegedly trying to smuggle 325kg of hashish into the country in 2018.
