And finally... rich man's world

The Royal Mint is developing an 18-carat gold credit card worth around £3,000 for its “partners in the top end of the market”.

The cards will be fully functional in card machines and at contactless card readers, The Times reports.

Mastercard is reportedly handling the payment processing technology for the gold cards.

A source at the Royal Mint told The Sun on Sunday that the card is “very much hush-hush”, but will likely be “ready within a year”.

The Royal Mint confirmed to The Times that it is trying to make “a precious-metal payment card”.
