And finally… piste off

Workers in ski resorts across France have called for a new day of protests as part of their continuous dispute with the French Government over reforms to the unemployment benefits system.

And finally... piste off

An estimated 50 ski resorts have been affected by strikes this week, with the ‘protest day’ on February 15th causing the highest levels of disruption.

The CGT and FO unions have said that it is too early to say exactly how many resorts will be affected by the action, however, they are expecting it to be a similar number to the February 15th protests.

The February 15th protest saw ski lift operators in some resorts stopping work for part of the day, while in other locations strikers they distributed leaflets. There were also pickets, roadblocks and demonstrations in front of several local government offices.

It is expected that ski lifts in many resorts will be out of action for several hours of the day on Monday, The Local reports.
