An anti-corruption investigation has been launched into a zoo where officials said around £15,000 was swallowed by a gorilla.
The entire sum of gate fees collected from visitors during a recent festival has disappeared, police confirmed.
However, the governor of Kano State, Nigeria, where the zoo is based, has expressed scepticism at claims that the entire sum of 6.8 million naira was swallowed by a gorilla.
Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has ordered the anti-corruption commission to open a probe into the issue and “unearth everything surrounding the incident”, AfricanNews reports.
