And finally… lotto suspicion

Attention has been drawn to South Africa’s national lottery as an unusual sequence of numbers was drown on Tuesday.

And finally... lotto suspicion

Twenty people won a share of the jackpot on Tuesday’s PowerBall lottery when the numbers five, six, seven, eight and nine were drawn, while the PowerBall was number ten.

The sequence has sparked accusations of fraud causing an investigation to be launched into the matter.

The organisers said 20 people purchased a winning ticket and won 5.7m rand (£278,000) each.

A further 79 ticketholders won 6,283 rand each for guessing the sequence from five up to nine but missing the PowerBall, BBC News reports.

A spokesman for South Africa’s National Lotteries Commission said the body would review the incident and report its findings.
