A bungling would-be con artist has bee arrested in Austria after his misplaced wallet was discovered by police – stuffed with fake 50 Euro notes.
Authorities in the city of Eisenstadt said they had tracked down a 22-year-old Austrian man thanks to his identity card - which was also in the wallet.
Under questioning he admitted buying the fake notes online in order to buy drugs.
Austrian police subsequently announced they had helped identify and catch a forger in Poland suspected of selling 10,000 euros’ ($11,800) worth of fake 50 euro notes over the so-called darknet.
