A man in France has been ordered to couch up €1000 and will spend three months in jail after sending a single emoji to his ex-girlfriend.
A local judge in Valence in the southern Drôme département ruled that a message from 22-year-old Bilal Azougagh, which contained only a cartoon icon representing a gun, could be interpreted as a death threat.
