And finally… in a rich man’s world

A new edition of classic board game Monopoly is celebrating women’s empowerment – by giving women players more money than men.

And finally... in a rich man's world

In the new “Ms Monopoly” edition of the game, women will collect 240 Monopoly bucks when they pass “Go”, while their male rivals will continue to collect 200.

The “fun new take” on the game, set to hit shelves in mid-September, “creates a world where women have an advantage often enjoyed by men”, Hasbro said.

The manufacturer added: “But don’t worry, if men play their cards right, they can make more money too.”

The cover of the game will boast a new character, Ms Monopoly, who Hasbro describes as “an advocate whose mission is to invest in female entrepreneurs”.

The new edition also replaces properties with “groundbreaking inventions and innovations made possible by women throughout history” and, instead of building houses, players build “business headquarters”.

Hasbro said: “From inventions like WiFi to chocolate chip cookies, solar heating and modern shapewear, Ms Monopoly celebrates everything from scientific advancements to everyday accessories – all created by women.”
