And finally… high spirits

A Japanese single malt whisky is to go on sale for 3 million yen per bottle - the equivalent of £21,000.

And finally... high spirits

The limited-edition 55-year-old Yamazaki, from the Suntory drinks group, will be available for purchase in June this year.

Only 100 bottles of Yamazaki are available.

The price of premium malts has skyrocketed in Japan as whisky makers’ stocks have decreased over the last decade.

The 17-year Hibiki, featured in the film Lost in Translation, is no longer available.

In 2005, Suntory sold a limited edition 50-year-old Yamazaki for 1 million yen (£7000) and one auctioned by Bonhams in 2018 fetched HK $2.695 million (£264,000), The Insider reports.

However, in 2018, the Macallan Valerio Adami 60-year-old sold for more than £1m.
