And finally… contactless

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has advised consumers to switch to contactless payments when paying for goods in order to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

And finally... contactless

The organisation issued the advice after it emerged that China and Korea began isolating and disinfecting used banknotes, which are well-known carriers of bacteria.

In 2017, a study was conducted investigating banknotes in New York and found 397 separate bacterial species sitting on the bills, Finextra reports.

A World Health Organisation spokesperson told The Telegraph: “We know that money changes hands frequently and can pick up all sorts of bacteria and viruses.

“We would advise people to wash their hands after handling banknotes, and avoid touching their face. When possible it would also be advisable to use contactless payments to reduce the risk of transmission.”
