And finally... bank links mobile app to number plates for parking payment

KBC Bank has teamed up with Q-Park on the feature which uses cameras to read number plates and open barriers to let drivers in.

The same happens on the way out, automatically ending the parking period and paying for it from the current account linked to the KBC app.

Customers can choose to get a notification of how much they have paid.

KBC customers can also use their app to rent a shared bike from Blue-bike or Velo Antwerpen. After finding a bike station, customers order and pay for a day pass and code to unlock the bike.

Karin Van Hoecke, GM, digital transformation, Belgium, KBC, said: “These two new additional services will once again save our customers a lot of time. Just link your number plate once to park with ease in no time. Or rent a shared bike for the day at the last minute to cycle the last part of your journey.”
